Teaching Artists
Creative Arts Workshop is a children’s arts studio dedicated to fostering creativity, self-expression, and hands-on learning for youth ages 4-11. Through visual arts, theatre, music, culinary arts, and community-based programs, we provide a dynamic and inspiring space for young artists to explore and grow.
We are seeking passionate and experienced Teaching Artists to join our team and bring engaging, creative, and skill-based learning experiences to our students. (Click here to download the application.)
Responsibilities:
🎭 Teach engaging arts-based classes for children ages 4-11 in visual arts, performing arts, music, culinary arts, or interdisciplinary creative fields.
🖌️ Develop age-appropriate lesson plans that encourage creativity, skill-building, and exploration.
🌟 Foster a positive, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment where all students feel encouraged to express themselves.
📚 Incorporate creative techniques to engage young learners in hands-on artistic exploration.
🤝 Collaborate with fellow teaching artists and staff to ensure a high-quality program experience.
🎨 Manage classroom setup, materials, and cleanup for workshops and special programs.
🏫 Engage with parents and families to communicate student progress and workshop goals.
Qualifications & Experience:
✔️ Bachelor’s degree in the arts, education, or a related field (OR equivalent significant professional experience in the field).
✔️ At least 2+ years of experience teaching or leading arts-based programs for school-aged children.
✔️ Expertise in at least one artistic discipline (Visual Arts, Theatre, Music, Dance, Culinary Arts, Mixed Media, etc.).
✔️ Ability to create and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
✔️ Strong classroom management skills and experience working with diverse learning styles.
✔️ Passion for arts education and community engagement.
✔️ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a creative, dynamic environment.
✔️ CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
✔️ Must pass a background check before starting.
Preferred Qualifications:
⭐ Experience working in youth-centered arts organizations, schools, or after-school programs.
⭐ Strong interdisciplinary approach to the arts, incorporating multiple creative disciplines.
⭐ Knowledge of child development and inclusive teaching strategies.

Creative Arts Workshop Youth Career Pipeline Program
The Creative Arts Workshop (CAW) is committed to enriching the lives of the youth in our community through the arts, creative expression, and social-emotional learning.
While CAW programming focuses on children ages 4 to 10, we’ve developed the Youth Career Pipeline Program to ensure continued engagement and growth for older participants. This tiered, mentor-centered program offers opportunities for youth development and career exploration in a supportive, nurturing environment.
Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program
For Grades: Rising 6th–8th (Middle School)
The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program provides a structured entry into leadership and workplace skill development. Middle school students can apply to work in CAW’s after-school arts programs, birthday parties, special events, and summer camp programs.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Programming Assistant: Working directly with younger children and Teaching Artists.

Facilities & Operations Assistant: Supporting cleaning, organization, painting, and materials management.

Training & Mentorship: Each CIT receives training and ongoing mentorship from CAW staff to develop workplace skills.

Compensation:
-
Earn $10 per hour, with a weekly maximum of six hours.
-
Option to volunteer up to 10 hours per week during the school year or 20 hours per week during the summer, in addition to or including the stipend hours.

Goals of the CIT Program:

Foster a nurturing introduction to the workplace.

Promote leadership, teamwork, and social-emotional learning.

Provide mentorship to help CITs identify and grow their strengths.
Annual Review:
Each CIT meets annually with a member of the management team to review their roles, discuss strengths and areas for growth, and set goals for the coming year.

Workshop Assistant Program
For Grades: High School (Ages 14+)
High school students can apply to become Workshop Assistants, taking on greater responsibilities while building on the skills learned as CITs.

Expanded duties in program support, child supervision, and operational tasks.

Opportunities to lead specific activities or projects under staff supervision.

Training & Mentorship: Ongoing guidance from management staff to support workplace skill development.

Compensation:

Hourly pay with annual performance-based raises of $0.50–$1.00.

Additional hours available based on program needs and student availability.

Goals of the Workshop Assistant Program:

Enhance leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Prepare students for future career opportunities.
Annual Review:
Each Workshop Assistant will meet annually with management to review performance, set goals, and discuss opportunities for growth.
